They are the second generation of experimental created lifeforms. You can crunch all the numbers you want genes will only listen so much. That is why scientist have to test things out. Besides near sighted would not be seen as much of a detriment if it was balanced with something else, more IQ or better hearing. The human genome may cause more of a human variance. Have not seen anyone doing this kind of testing to compare so enjoy the ride. :)

@scarvig: I suppose she is a cheetah, they have such marks starting from their ear, going next to their nose. They are tears you know... According to africans.

Hers are less hairy tho.

@MrTTAO They are transgenic supersoldiers designed to shrug off what would kill humans. I doubt physical violence means nearly as much to them as it does to a squishy civ. Or maybe he saw she was about to go off on some screed and stopped it cold.
Also I've been thinking about that early comic where you go on that weird tangent about how the genetics of it work - if you ever want to retcon, what you can do is: The general didn't know as much as he thought he did, they mixed species because transgenics is much farther along than writing from scratch thanks to agriculture biotech research; we could write new code, but mixing and matching is a lot cheaper.

Ah, a wild fox appears. I'm guessing her role is intelligence? Feeding information to the other types while they're out in the field? Or maybe she plans out their missions. She looks unreasonably mischievous.
